Research and Proposal Instructions

1.0 Proposal Requirements and Current Topics of Interest

Proposals from qualified individuals or organizations for research and documentation on the following topic are invited; however unsolicited proposals on other topics will also be considered:

1. An authoritative and exhaustive documentation of traditional Anatolian wool dying techniques.

A proposal to TCF is to provide sufficient information that the proposed work represents a significant contribution to its mission. The quality and originality of the content of the unsolicited proposals will be the basis upon which proposals will be evaluated. The proposed research and documentation must be responsive and apropriate to the chosen topic.

2.0 Information Data Rights

All information submitted to TCF becomes property of TCF for publication on its webpage or any other medium.

3.0 Limitations on Length of Proposal

Those who wish to respond must submit a direct, concise, and informative research and documentation proposal of no more than twenty-five (25) pages in electronic format to Proposal@turkishculture.org. Promotional and non-subject related submissions are discouraged.

4.0 Proposal Format

4.1 Cover Sheet, with topic title, name, mail or email address, date, proposed effort, duration, and cost.

4.2 Project Summary. An asbtract with a brief description of the project objectives and the anticipated results.

4.3 Indentification and signifigance of the research topic and its importance.

4.4 Project objectives. Enumerate the specific objectives of the proposed work and the feasibility of obtaining the anticipated results.

4.5 Work plan. Provide and explicit, detailed description of the proposed approach. The plan should indicate what is planned, how and where the work will be carried out, a schedule of major milestones and the final documentation to be delivered. Feasibility of the proposed effort and the methods planned to achieve each objective or task should be discussed explicitly and in detail. This section should be the most substantial portion of the total proposal.

4.6 Related Work. A thorough knowledge of the existing body of related work should be demonstrated. Describe any significant activities directly related to the proposed effort, including any conducted by the principal researchers or their organizations. Describe how these activities interface with the proposed project and discuss any planned coordination with outside sources. The proposal must show the proposal's awareness of the latest information in the specific topic.

4.7 Relationship with Future Research and Documentation.

4.7.1 State the anticipated results of the proposed approach if the project is successful.

4.7.2 Discuss the significance of the proposed effort in providing a foundation for further research.

4.8 Key Researchers. Identify key researchers who wil be involved in the effort, including information on directly related education and experience. A concise resume of the principal investigator, including a list of relevant publications (if any), must be included.

4.9 Cost Proposal. List all key researchers by name as well as by number of hours dedicated to the project and hourly rates used to calculate cost. The inclusion of equipment and materials wil be carefully reviewed relative to the need and appropriatness for the project proposed. Cost for travel must be justified and related to the needs of the project.

5.0 Evaluation Criteria.

Proposals will be evaluated for relevance to the subject matter, quality and originality of the content and the final documentation. There is no commitment by TCF to make any awards on any topic, to make a specific number of awards or to be responsible for any monies expended by the proposer before award of a research grant.
