A major part of the TCF mission is to increase people-to-people cultural exchanges between Turkey and the United States. The TCF cultural and teacher study tours are two major TCF programs that help advance this goal.

Cultural Tours

The purpose of the project is to awaken interest and increase knowledge among leaders and trend-setters in different segments of US society vis-a-vis Turkey. TCF is inviting select individuals to join its cultural tours as TCF guests. More information on past and upcoming tours is listed here.

Teacher Study Tours to Turkey

In partnership with the World Affairs Council of America (WACA), every year, TCF takes competitively selected groups of American middle school and high-school teachers to Turkey on TCF Teacher Study Tours. Through this program, teachers enhance their classroom curriculum while exploring Turkey. Upon their return, the teachers integrate their gained knowledge into their curricula and share their experiences with their local communities through TCF-funded cultural programs on Turkey, organized by local World Affairs Councils.

As of the summer of 2011 and since the program was initiated in 2007, TCF Study Tours have taken 348 American teachers to Turkey. Three tours have taken place in the summer of 2012 for a total of 77 American teachers.

Lecture Series Project

There is very limited little knowledge about Turkey, the Turkish people and their culture in the United States and the popular image of Turkey is shaped by mass media, which rarely portrays an accurate picture of the nation.

Particularly in the area of Turkish culture and the Turkish people's contribution to world cultural heritage, little information reaches the general American public.

By establishing an annual lecture series on issues related to Turkey, particularly on Turkish society and culture, we aim to increase knowledge on and interest in Turkey. cultural activities and contributions as well. For more information on this program, please visit here. The TCF lecture videos can be viewed on the TCF Video Gallery.

TCF Cultural Exchange Fellowship

The TCF Cultural Exchange Fellowship aims to support international exchanges between artists, as well as professional working in fields related to the arts and culture. The Fellowship will be awarded competitively each year to Turkish and non-Turkish artists and other culture professionals. Individuals can apply for this TCF Fellowship to participate in a variety of programs, including conferences, exhibitions, festivals, collaborative projects in art and culture, as well as residency programs.
