Six South Dakota educators will go on a 13-day educational tour of Turkey this summer.
David Colberg, middle and high school principal at Sioux Valley in Volga; Rosemarie Delvaux, middle school teacher and high school drama coach at Woonsocket; Thomas Holmes, history teacher at Roosevelt High School; Adam Smith, geometry, physical science and physics teacher at Washington High School; Eric Toft, geography teacher at Mickelson Middle School in Brookings; and Samantha Walder, reading, speech, composition, literature and journalism teacher at Deuel High School in Clear Lake were chosen for the trip. Teachers competed through an application process.
The trip is through South Dakota World Affairs Council and underwritten by the Turkish Cultural Foundation.
The teachers and administrators will visit schools, museums, mosques and markets during the trip July 26 to Aug. 7.
