Dr. Recep Karadag of the TCF Cultural Preservation and Natural Dyes Laboratory-DATU participated in the 5th International Symposium on Azerbaijani Carpets in Baku, Azerbaijan on October 17-21. Dr. Karadag gave a presentation entitled "Non-destructive and Micro analysis Methods for Restoration of Carpets in Azerbaijan’s National History Museum".
Ceramist İpek Kotan (TCF Cultural Exchange Fellow 2014 and 2016) exhibited her artwork at PAD London Art + Design, represented by Adrian Sassoon in London, UK from October 2-8.
Visual artist Özgür Demirci (TCF Cultural Exchange Fellows - 2014) participated in the exhibition "Survival Kit" with 10 artists at the Cultural Transit Foundation in Yekaterinburg, Russia from October 6 – 26.
Grammy nominated composer, singer, performer, and scholar Dr. Mehmet Ali Sanlıkol (TCF Cultural Exchange Fellow-2012 and Grantee-2017) performed as "Mehmet Ali Sanlıkol & Whatsnext?" with two giants of jazz, saxophonist David Liebman and trumpeter Tiger Okoshi at the Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport, MA - USA on October 9.
Roberley Bell (TCF Cultural Exchange Fellow - 2015) participated in "Out of Site: Contemporary Sculpture at Chesterwood", an exhibition by 15 artists. Her sculpture "Blue landscape" was installed on the grounds of the Chesterwood Estate in Stockbridge, MA until October 9. Bell’s sculpture "Locus Amoenus" was also installed at Crystal Park in Holmes, NY in June 2017.
Cellist, composer, improviser, and photographer Anıl Eraslan (TCF Cultural Exchange Fellow-2014) held a concert with Julia Kadel at Christuskirche in Hessen, Germany on October 6. He also held solo concerts at Café Tasso - Das andere Antiquariat in Berlin, Germany on October 20 and at Sunnyside Festival in Reims, France on October 29. Anıl Eraslan also participated in a residency program with Matthieu Epp and Fred Guérin in Saverne, France on October 30-31.
